Thanks to your active use of convly and valuable feedback, we’ve worked hard to develop new features. Here are the main highlights:

Start Teams DMs from Slack

Previously, you had to wait for a Teams user to message you first before you could reply from Slack. That’s no longer the case!

You can now start a direct message with a Teams user directly from Slack.

  • Find Teams Users
Open the convly app, click “Find Teams Users”, search for the person, click “…” → “Send DM”, write your message, and “send”.
A corresponding Slack channel is created automatically.

    or

  • From a Hybrid Channel
In a shared Slack/Teams channel, type ‘/convly’, select a user from the popup, click **“…” → “Send DM”, and send your message.

    or

  • From Conversations
Open “Conversations” in the convly app, select a conversation, click “Users”, choose the person, then “…” → “Send DM”.

Create Teams group chats directly from Slack

Just like with DMs, you previously had to wait to be added to a Teams group chat before accessing it from Slack. That’s no longer necessary.

You can now create a Teams group chat directly from Slack in just a few steps:

  1. Go to convly slack app, select “Conversations” tab, then “Create new

  2. Search and select the different Teams users you would like to include

  3. Define your channel name (that will be used on Teams side), and see below how it will look like in Slack

  4. Type your first message!

  5. Click “Create

That’s it! Your first Teams group chat is created, with a mirrored channel in Slack for seamless collaboration.

Sync an existing Slack channel to Microsoft Teams

In addition to creating new conversations, you can also sync an existing Slack channel with Microsoft Teams. This is especially useful if you already have an active Slack channel and want to include Teams users.

  1. Open the convly app in Slack and go to ‘Conversations’ → “Sync Existing”.

  2. Select the Slack channel you want to sync with Teams.
(Only public channels with Slack/Teams/Convly members can be synced.)

  3. Search for and select the Teams user(s) to add.

  4. Choose a channel name for the Teams side.

  5. Write your first message.

  6. Click “Sync.

That’s it! Your Slack channel is now connected to Microsoft Teams, making collaboration seamless across both platforms.
💡 Note: that you can also sync a Slack private channel to Teams, you just need to invite convly (@convly) within the desired private channel first!

View and manage Teams users from Slack

You can now easily view and manage Microsoft Teams users directly from a hybrid Slack/Teams channel, no need to open Teams.

  1. In a hybrid channel, type ‘/convly’ to open the Teams member list. Or you can also open convly Slack app, select “Conversations” and click “Users”.

  2. To add a user, click “Add Teams Users”, search for their name, and select “Add”.

  3. To remove a user, click the “…” next to their name and select “Remove”.

Super easy, no more need to open Teams to access Teams user list, you can do it from Slack

Real replies / thread

Until now, replies and threads were not managed by convly. Messages were sent as “normal” messages on both sides.

Replies are now properly synchronized:

  • If you reply from Slack to a Teams message, it will appear as a reply on the Teams side.

  • If a Teams user replies from Teams, it will appear as a reply/thread on the Slack side.

Feel free to reply! 😉
